UBC CS Logo

Of all the submissions (I’m not sure how many there were, but I alone submitted 14), 12 were selected. The page can be seen here.

2 of my 14 made it in, numbers 11 and 12 (the last two on the page). I like some of the other designs, but I hope 11 wins. I’m not selfish. What does surprise me is that some others of mine did not make it to this stage…. were they too simple? The best logos ARE simple logos, as far as I’m concerned. I’m also kind of surprised that #12 made it here; it’s an on/off switch with a circular arrow representing recursion. I’ll post all the designs I did when I’m on a new server. I would love to see all the submissions of everyone! πŸ™‚

  1. hehe, you and shirley dominate the good ones.
#2 is just, aye. humour that cs ppl would appreciate, i guess πŸ™‚

  2. Ok, so this one went through.

Anyway, I was saying that I like #7, 8, and 11. I don’t know which ones are Shirley’s. I feel so out of the loop.

The first few are too complex, I think. Some are too simple. Oh, and I think your mouse beats the #10 mouse. πŸ™‚

  3. #2 is kind of funny, but I wouldn’t want it representing the department… I mean, c’mon.

I also don’t know which ones Shirley did. All she’s told me is she did one really quick for the free beverage… so going from that, and her sense of humour, I’d guess she did #5. πŸ™‚

Alex, I’m sure your comment tasted delicious.

Note, once again, if you enter your email (it is never displayed), you do not have to wait for your comment to be moderated.

  4. Ding! Ding! Ding!
Hey this is not a CS logo contest. In fact, the word “logo” was not even mentioned in the description. They are only looking for something to would make good buttons, that will be given to us for free hopefully.

That said, it’s obvious I didn’t go for the “simplicity” approach.

The moment I saw the list, I thought #1 will win definitely. I just hope they would at least fix the html. I emailed them but no reply.
