This one makes me overly excited because it comes with a built-in gallery!!!  FINALLY!  And with multi-file upload!!  I was just playing with it and It looks like it will suit my purposes just fine.  I guess I will continue avoiding the Flickrs and other such community-based photo sites, for now.  I&#8217;ll probably have to update my theme a little, however&#8230; and see if there&#8217;s a way to set a maximum photo size.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/development.openoffice.org\/releases\/2.4.0.html\">OpenOffice.org 2.4<\/a> is out and comes with quite a lot of improvements, including OpenGL transitions (<em>perdy<\/em>) and performance gains.  OpenOffice.org 3.0 looks like it will be quite a massive release, <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.gobanquet.com\/index.php\/openoffice-3-has-pdf-import-native-aqua-ui-tara-reid\/\">aiming to sing and dance<\/a>. Also see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.oooninja.com\/2008\/03\/openofficeorg-30-new-features.html\">here<\/a> (Thanks, Andrew).<\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntu.com\">Ubuntu 8.04<\/a><\/strong>, <em>Hardy Heron<\/em>, is nearly out.  Less than a month away!  It comes with the recently released <a href=\"http:\/\/library.gnome.org\/misc\/release-notes\/2.22\/\">GNOME 2.22<\/a>, Firefox 3.0b4, PulseAudio,  and a bunch of other goodies, like using the excellent Transmission as the default Bitorrent client.  I&#8217;m also really looking forward to the World Clock Applet &#8211; then I won&#8217;t have to think about Japan&#8217;s and Brazil&#8217;s timezones ever again.  \ud83d\ude42  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ubuntu.com\/testing\/hardy\/beta\">Beta&#8217;s available now<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Stuff that <em>looks<\/em> good, but I have no experience with&#8230;<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/luisbg.blogalia.com\/\/historias\/56334\">Pencil<\/a> &#8211; Open source, cross-platform 2D drawing\/animation application.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/hotwire-shell.org\/\">Hotwire<\/a> &#8211; Smart shell.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/do.davebsd.com\/\">GNOME Do<\/a> &#8211; Like quicksilver from OSX.  <\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/fishsoup.net\/software\/reinteract\/\">ReInteract<\/a> &#8211; Super python console.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/faces.homeip.net\/index.html\">Faces Project Management<\/a> &#8211; PM is something that&#8217;s lacking on Linux.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rousette.org.uk\/projects\/\">Tracks<\/a> GTD &#8211; If you&#8217;re willing to install it on a RoR supported server to help <em>get things done<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Finally<\/h3>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been meaning to mention this incredibly well designed (because it&#8217;s simple) program to edit subtitles (for those totally legal foreign videos you&#8217;re downloading\/transcribing): <a href=\"http:\/\/home.gna.org\/gaupol\/index.html\"><strong>gaupol<\/strong><\/a>.  <em>Very<\/em> slick.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WordPress 2.5 is out!
